Common Questions
Not sure what to expect? Here are answers to the questions we hear most from patients before their first visit.
Do I need a referral to book an appointment?
No referral is needed to get started. New York is a direct access state, so you can book your evaluation directly. If your care requires 10 or more visits or extends beyond 30 days, a prescription will be needed per NY law.
Do you accept insurance?
Atlas PT is a cash-based, out-of-network clinic. We accept cash, credit/debit cards, Amex, and HSA/FSA. We can provide superbills for patients who want to seek reimbursement through their out-of-network insurance benefits.
What conditions do you work with?
We work with a wide range of orthopedic and sports-related issues — from low back and shoulder pain to knee problems, Achilles issues, and more. If pain or a physical limitation is keeping you from training, we want to hear from you.
Will I have to stop training while in PT?
Our goal is always to keep you moving. We'll work around your training where possible and build modifications into your plan so you can stay active while you recover. Stopping altogether is rarely the answer.
What happens at the first visit?
Your first visit includes a comprehensive movement evaluation to identify the root cause of what's going on. You'll also receive hands-on treatment and a personalized exercise plan in that same session — leaving with a clear understanding of the problem and a roadmap to fix it.
